Big Brother is watching...

Australian Police are to have much more access to security camera footage in a bid to prevent terrorists attacking key targets around New South Wales. I predicted this would happen given that they recovered good footage from the security cameras in London after the bombings. Now we will have some more security to prevent a catastrophe like the aforementioned London attacks.

I have done some more work on the new community map acting on suggestions from people who have played it. Now it is a little easier and more fun to play.

Get it here:

A Boom compatible port is required to play this. prboom works very well. I have over 1500 monsters in this map, but it is well worth playing. I am going to release this map into /newstuff when it is finished so I want to make something that will be worth playing.

Doomworld Forums - Doom On DVD!!!

Doomworld Forums - Doom On DVD!!!

This is release of the Doom movie for DVD. I hope it is worth the price of admission.

I have installed Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 `Sarge' and it is yet another OS that is better than Windows. Much better indeed. The Windows users have to put up with installing about 2000 patches and service packs and Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware to try and make their systems safer. But that does not make your system much safer, it depends on how intelligent the person using it is. I cannot stand using Windows when it shuts down the machine without warning and you have no way of recovering your work. That really sucks.

I have news I have re-done my nutslite map. Get the level here: http://geocities.com/hungry_mancubus/gate.zip This level is for Doom2 MAP28 and is a million times better than the original map. I wanted to make a map that had a huge amount of monsters and would challenge the player. It is a map reliant on some infighting but you also have the chance to get out there with the BFG and cause some damage yourself. And that is what we all love to do. And it looks quite good too. Just what you need when fighting the hordes of evil. I do not want to make something like Nuts3 just something that will challenge the player.

I have implemented cool looking architecture and windows between areas for a good cohesive feel to the level that nutslite lacked. I am confident that players will like this map, I certainly like playing it with it's very challenging gameplay.

Has anyone else seen the new SUN 3D desktop live CD yet? Australian Personal Computer magazine: http://www.apcmag.com.au put out an ISO on their DVD and here is a screen-shot of this live distro demo. This is incredible that we have this working before Windows Vista comes out. When the windows are turned side on you can see a border, when you are viewing an ebook it should show a book styled spine on the side. And the website title if you are browsing the web. Very cool indeed. Just what GNU/Linux needs. It will not appeal to everyone but we do like good tech demos, and the ability for Linux to adopt ideas from Microsoft before they release them, whether that is a good thing or not I am not sure... Surely GNU/Linux can create original ideas as well, instead of copying from Microsoft, but I am sure that it works better than Windows Vista will when it is released. I am just not sure how long people will put up with 3D Window movement before they switch back to flatland.

The Australian Government has continued to suggest a Desalination Plant is the best solution for managing Water supply for the Sydney area, even though the Sydney Water department has warned the State Government that it is not the cheapest option available. I think that capturing and treating storm-water for use on parks and gardens would be a better idea and save valuable drinking water. A much better idea than letting it just run down the drain. There must be enormous amounts of rainwater that just run into the ocean and is wasted unnecessarily. But the State Government will not even listen to it's own departments at all. Just want to use the most expensive option which will require raising water rates &significantly& to fund the project. The CD burning works with the Xcdroast program and Kernel 2.6.8 in Debian 3.1 'Sarge' and I could not be happier, I had a failed write operation to a CD, but I completed it having another try and it was successful, although I could not start writing from sector 0. But the disc was not a coaster! But I was only writing about 456MB anyway. I just specified /dev/hdc as the device as Xcdroast could not detect the device automatically. No worries there, although using cdrecord -scanbus will also help to detect the devices you require. And I can use hal to detect USB devices when running with the Gnome desktop. I have version 2.8, which is quite good indeed. And much nicer than the Windows XP interface with the shit looking Fisher Price&tm; window decorations. Who the f%^&k would like that? I prefer the silver looking theme. Or Windows classic. And Windows XP has trouble running old games that people might want to play. Like Operation Body Count from Capstone Software. A game that had you running around levels fighting Arab terrorists and giant Rats. Very atmospheric game-play once you get into it. I have textured my level in BSTONE2 textures and it looks very good now, just the way it should be. Very atmospheric. Just like Windows Vista.I hope that the players of this map like it as much as I do.

I almost have the whole collection of PSX Doom mp3's, I just need the last 2 tracks of Final Doom PSX and I will have the lot. The music is very atmospheric and cool to listen to late at night. Much better than something like Human Nature. Listening to that music is scientifically proven to cause brain aneurisms and painful deaths. Even worse than Guy Sebastian. Now he is a bastard. He can sing, but I hate his music. And the music in the Neon Genesis Evangelion movies is also quite awesome. The ending is awesome and well worth waiting for. And the new War of the Worlds movie is good too, keeping to the formula of the previous film and delivering a quite believable film. There was no super weapon wielded by the humans that allowed them to win. Just microscopic microbes. The humblest of creatures. Defeating the huge war machines by infecting their pilots.

Praise be to microbes! I have installed Quake2 and I am playing through it in hard mode and enjoying every minute of it. I have got up to the factory and I have the holy BFG. A weapon I was hanging out to get. Those god damn annoying Gladiators with their railguns are no match for me now! But the most annoying enemies are those flyers. They can rot in hell. But destroying a flock of them with the aforementioned BFG is worth the price of admission.
